CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team's comeback effort came up just short in a 101-98 loss to Rhodes College at home Saturday night.
After the Southern Athletic Association Champion Lynx (14-10, 11-3) took a 58-47 into halftime, they pushed their lead to 86-71 with 8:55 left in the game. The Warriors (11-13, 7-7) began to chip away at deficit with a 24-11 run, cutting the Rhodes lead to 97-95 with 2:05 remaining. Rhodes missed their next two free throws, and the Warriors got the ball. A contested three-point shot missed for Hendrix and Anesu Nywata went 1-for-2 at the at the line with .2 seconds left, allowing the Lynx to escape with a 101-98 victory.
For the game, Hendrix shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the field, 4-for-16 from three-point range and 38-for-48 at the free throw line. They also had 51 rebounds, 22 assists, 32 turnovers, seven blocks and six steals. Rhodes shot 47.2 percent (34-for-72) from the floor, 11-of-32 from outside and 22-of-36 at the stripe with 31 boards, 24 assists, 19 turnovers, four blocks and 17 steals.
Hendrix tied for fourth in the SAA regular season standings, but will be the fifth seed and take on fourth-seeded Sewanee at the conference tournament in Memphis, Tenn. Friday.

Aaron Steele.

- Aldous led all players with 31 points and had eight rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
- Parker finished with 17 points, going 7-for-7 at the line, and dished out two assists.

Sean Criswell came off the bench to record a career-high eight points and nine rebounds.

Jacob Link posted eight points, nine boards, five assists, two blocks and two steals.
- Sophomore forward
Bryce Batchelor had nine points and six rebounds - five on the offensive end.

Preston Smith also scored eight points.
- Littlefield scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds.
- Steele recorded four points, four rebounds and a season-high five assists.
- Sophomore guard Michael Calemese dished out five assists.
- Garrett finished with four points and two assists.

- Daniel Darst led the Lynx with 17 points and six rebounds to go with three assists and three steals.
- Nywata scored 16 points with three assists.
- Ian Harrison scored 11 points.
- Tyler Gee had nine points, five boards and three assists.
- Mitch Weatherford and Nick De Feria also had nine points.
