Hendrix Dominates Millsaps in Season Opener

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team defeated Millsaps College 16-3 in the 2017 season opener at Warrior Field Saturday morning.

Also the first Southern Athletic Association game of the season, the Warriors earn a win for first-year head coach Liz Daly in debut at the helm.

Hendrix scored the first 12 goals of the contest, before the Majors (0-3, 0-1) scored on a free position shot just before halftime. The Warriors outscored the visitors 4-2 in the second half.

The Warriors set a new school record with 10 assists in the game. They also recorded 26 shots, 23 on goal, 19 ground balls, 13 ground controls, 17 turnovers and 13 caused turnovers, while going 10-of-14 on clear attempts.

The Majors recorded 16 shots, nine on goal, 12 ground balls, eight draws, five caused turnovers and went 7-of-15 on clears.

- Sophomore attacker Morgan Dasch came up with three goals and five assists.
- Junior midfielder Reilly Frazier had four goals and an assist.
- Juniors Kaitlyn Smith, Bridget Umble and Shelby Hill each scored two goals.
- Hill also had two caused turnovers.
- Freshman Hannah Burroughs recorded a goal, two assists and five draw controls.
- Sophomore midfielder Holly Heeb had a goal, an assist, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Senior midfielder Meghan Ayers scored a goal to go with three ground balls and three draws.
- Junior Jordan Rausch caused a pair of turnovers.
- Sophomore Alexis Truitt stopped six shots in goal.

Millsaps Notes
- Alyssa Smith scored twice for the Majors and had four draw controls.
- Cherilyn Cabanero also had a goal and four ground balls.
- Bria Johnson had three ground balls and and two caused turnovers.
- Keeper Alicia Price came up with seven saves.

Hendrix will travel to Berry College in Mount Berry, Ga. for another conference game on Saturday.
