CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College softball team split their home opener double-header with Williams Baptist College in rainy conditions Tuesday evening. The Warriors (5-1) took the opener 4-2, but the Lady Eagles (4-4) won the nightcap 8-0 in five innings.
In game one, Hendrix scored a pair in the bottom of the first. Senior second baseman
Victoria Hughes led off with a walk and scored on
Bryanna Carlisle's bunt that resulted in a three-base error. Senior third baseman
Sydney Ozersky hit a blooper into right field, plating Carlisle.
WBC picked up a run in the third on a RBI-single from left fielder Jessica Dobbins. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, sophomore pitcher
Emily Stockalper and junior first baseman
Nikki Sanders both drew a walk, then junior
Morgan Maida hit an infield single to load the bases. Freshman center fielder
Aubrey Brink was hit by pitch, allowing Stockalper to score. After another out, Carlisle singled to the pitcher, scoring junior pinch runner
Rebecca Maeder.
The Lady Eagles added another run in the top of the seventh after a hit and an error.
Stockalper (3-0) earned the win by allowing six hits, one earned run and three walks with two strikeouts in the complete game effort. Rylee Rogers (1-3) walked seven with two hits, two earned runs and five strikeouts over 5.1 innings in the loss.
Hendrix Game 1 Notes
- Ozersky extended her hitting streak to eight games with her RBI single.
- Carlisle had a hit, run, RBI, walk, two sacrifice bunts and stole two bases. She also had a great diving catch in right field.
- Hughes stole a base and drew two walks.
- Maida and Sanders earch recorded hits.
Williams Baptist Game 1 Notes
- Designated player Laura Helmich went 2-for-3.
- Madelyn Poe and Dobbins each had a hit and a RBI.

In game two, Helmich (3-1) threw a one-hit, three walk shutout with five strikeouts. The Warrior pitchers combined to allow nine hits, eight runs and eight walks. Sophomore starter
Dasha Donahoe (1-1) took the loss.
The Lady Eagles scored a run in the first, three in the second, one in the third and three more in the fifth.
Hendrix Game 2 Notes

Taylor Oglesby recorded the Warriors' only hit in the fourth inning.

- Brink laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Williams Baptist Game 2 Notes
- Third baseman Ashley Lyons drove in three runs on two walks and a hit by pitch and scored a run.
- Poe scored two runs and recorded a hit.
- Alex Travis had a two-run pinch hit double.
