ELMHURST, Ill. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team defeated Elmhurst College 10-9 in overtime on the road Friday evening.
The host Blue Jays (2-1) started off with a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. Sophomore

Alex Ortenstone for the Warriors (3-2) just before the end of the opening period.
Elmhurst and Hendrix each scored three goals in the second quarter to give the home team a 5-4 lead at the break. The Warriors scored the first three goals of the third quarter to take a 7-5 advantage. The Blue Jays scored the next three goals to make the score 8-7 in their favor with 6:16 left in regulation. Matt Latham tied it up with 4:25 left, before Mac Harden put Elmhurst back up 9-8 with 3:13 to play. Gorman assisted sophomore attacker
Drew Scanlan's goal with 1:55 remaining in the fourth to force overtime.
Ortenstone scored the game-winner with 90 seconds left in the extra period.
For the game, Hendrix recorded 10 goals, three assists, 34 shots, 23 on goal, 31 ground balls, 16 turnovers and four caused turnovers and went 16-of-18 on clears. Elmhurst had nine goals, five assists, 35 shots, 23 on goal, 34 ground balls, 16 turnovers, nine caused turnovers and were 18-of-18 on clears.
