BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team advanced to the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Finals by defeating Millsaps College 64-53 in the semifinals at Bill Battle Coliseum Saturday night.
The third-seeded Warriors (17-10) will take on league champion Birmingham-Southern in the finals at 2 p.m. Sunday. It will be the first appearance in a conference tournament finals since they made the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship game in 2011.
Hendrix led 12-10 after the first quarter and led the second-seeded Majors (17-10) 30-24 at halftime. Millsaps cut their deficit to 38-33 with 3:34 left in the third quarter, but Hendrix answered with back-to-back three-pointers by senior guard
Hailey Bode to move their lead back to 11. The Warriors maintained at least a seven-point lead throughout the rest of the contest.
For the game, Hendrix shot 37.3 percent (22-of-59) from the field and 7-of-26 from three-point range. They also went 13-of-14 at the free throw line, tied for the fifth best percentage (92.9) in school history. The Warriors recorded 38 rebounds, eight assists, 13 turnovers, four blocks and three steals.
Millsaps shot 37.8 percent (17-of-45) overall, 5-of-18 from three and 14-of-20 at the line with 26 boards, five assists, 11 turnovers, two blocks and six steals.
Hendrix Notes
- Junior center Sara Dylsin recorded her 18th double-double of the season with 23 points and 14 rebounds. She also had two assists and a pair of blocks.
- Bode finishes with a season-high 18 points, going 6-for-12 from three-point range. She also recorded two blocks and two steals.

Heather Prowse came up with 10 points and 10 boards for her second double-double of the year.
- Junior center
Madison Martin had eight points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Millsaps Notes
- Kala-Jewell Freeman led the Majors with 16 points and two steals.
- Millicent Butler had 13 points.
- Braxton Thomas recorded 11 points and four rebounds.
- Kim Klunk had nine points, seven boards, a block and two steals.
