BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College softball team lost the series finale to Birmingham-Southern College 12-3 in five innings in Southern Athletic Association action Sunday.
The Warriors (5-4, 0-3) scored three runs in the top of the second when sophomore pitcher
Emily Stockalper hit a one-out double to right center then junior designated player
Morgan Maida singled and advanced to second on the play. Freshman shortstop
Taylor Oglesby singled to left, plating Stockalper for the first run. Freshman center fielder
Aubrey Brink was hit by a pitch to load the bases, then senior second baseman
Victoria Hughes walked with the bases full, allowing Maida to score. With two outs, sophomore catcher
Karli Sewell singled in Brink.
In the bottom of the third, the Panthers (7-4, 3-0) scored four runs on two hits, three errors and a walk. After three runs and four hits in the bottom of the fourth BSC scored eight times to lead 12-3 and force the run rule.
Panther reliever Haley Crumpton (4-2) earned the win, allowing one hit and one strike out over 3.2 innings. Stockalper (3-2) took the loss allowing six hits, three walks and 10 unearned runs with two strikeouts.
