CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College softball team split with Centre College in a Southern Athletic Association double-header at Warrior Field Saturday. The Warriors (6-5, 1-4) lost the first game to the Colonels (3-6, 1-4), but rebounded to win the second game 1-0.
In game one, the Warriors (6-5, 1-4) took a 2-0 lead in the first after senior shortstop
Victoria Hughes walked and stole second and scored from third on a double by sophomore catcher
Karli Sewell. Senior third baseman
Sydney Ozersky tripled in Sewell.
The Colonels (3-6, 1-4) scored in the top of the second on a RBI-double from catcher Cassidy Cook. Hendrix went up 3-1 in the bottom of the second when Hughes hit a double that scored sophomore pitcher
Dasha Donahoe.
Centre tied it up with a RBI triple by first baseman Jessika Young and a sacrifice fly off the bat of right fielder Brittany Sears in the top of the fifth.
The Warriors took a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Sewell hit a RBI-double, Ozersky drove in a run with ground out and sophomore left fielder
Emily Stockalper hit a triple, scoring Sewell.
The Colonels took the lead for good with a grand slam by Young in the top of the sixth.
Elysse Petrie (1-1) earned the win with a strikeout and allowing two walks, six runs and six hits over five innings. Erika Brewer picked up the save by allowing a hit in two innings. Sophomore reliever
Savannah Draud (1-1) took the loss for the Warriors.
Hendrix Game 1 Notes
- Sewell went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI.

Centre Game 1 Notes
- Young was 2-for-3 with five RBI, including the grand slam.
- Shortstop Mary-Carter Downing went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
- Second baseman Ellen Stephens was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a double.

Stockalper (4-2) threw a four-hit shutout with a walk and two strikeouts in game two. Brewer (1-4) had the loss with six hits, one run, three walks and four strikeouts.
The only run of the game came in the bottom of the second. Sewell led off with a double and Ozersky hit a double, moving to Sewell to third. Junior first baseman
Nikki Sanders also hit a double to left field, scoring Sewell.
