MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College softball team split a double-header with Rhodes College in Southern Athletic Association action Saturday afternoon. The Warriors (9-7, 3-5) lost game one to the Lynx (16-11, 4-1) 10-5, but rebounded two win the second 10-3.
In the opener, Hendrix scored three in the top of the first. Senior second baseman
Victoria Hughes led off with a double and scored on a base hit from junior right fielder
Bryanna Carlisle. Sophomore catcher
Karli Sewell followed with a two-run homer.
Rhodes picked up a run in both the first and second inning. The Warriors went up 4-2 in the top of the third after Hughes led off with a walk, later stole third and scored on a Sewell ground ball.
The Lynx scored on a walk, two stolen bases and an error in the bottom of the third. They took a 7-4 lead in the fourth on five hits and a walk. Two errors set and a two-run double by third baseman Christine Hume in the fifth gave the home team a 10-4 advantage. The Warriors tacked on a final run in the seventh when junior first baseman
Nikki Sanders led off by reaching on an error, then was lifted for junior pinch runner
Rebecca Maeder, who stole second and advanced to third on a
Aubrey Brink singled. Maeder scored by stealing home as part of a double steal.
Bri Maniscalco (8-5) earned the win for Rhodes, allowing seven hits, four earned runs, a walk and strikeout. Freshman
Stephanie Combs (1-1) took the loss.
Hendrix Game 1 Notes
- Hughes recorded a double, two runs scored and stole a base.
- Sewell drove in three runs, including two on her home run.

Sydney Ozersky hit a triple.
- Maeder stole two bases and scored.

Rhodes Game 1 Notes
- Hume went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, two doubles and two stolen bases.
- Pinch hitter Allison Long drove in two runs.
- Right fielder Katelynn Bresler was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, RBI and run scored.
- Center fielder Kirsten Samuels stole three bases.
- Second baseman Jill Healy was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

In game two, Warrior sophomore
Emily Stockalper (6-3) struck out five batters and allowed nine hits and three runs in the complete game victory. Long (3-5) took the loss, allowing nine hits, five earned runs, three walks and a strikeout.
Hendrix outhit Rhodes 13-9 in the game.
The Lynx scored the first run in the bottom of the first when Kayla Rose singled and scored on a base hit by catcher Kendall Henry. The Warriors went up 2-1 in the third when Brink led off with a hit, stole second and later scored after Carlisle reached on an error. Carlisle then stole second and scored on another error.
Hendrix plated four runs in the fourth. Stockalper started things with a triple an scored on a ground out off the bat of junior
Morgan Maida. Freshman left fielder
Miranda Cutchall then walked and Sanders singled to put runners on the corner. Maeder ran for Sanders, then Brink drew a walk to load the bases. Hughes hit a double, scoring Cutchall, and Brink was put out on the play. Carlisle followed with a triple to clear the bases and put the Warriors up 6-1.
Bresler hit a two run homer in the fifth to cut the Lynx' deficit in half. Hendrix picked up a run in the sixth when Carlisle singled, stole second and later scored on an Ozersky ground out. In the top of the seventh, Madia singled and Cutchall walked, setting up a three-run home run blast by Sanders for the final runs of the game.

- Sanders went 2-for-4 with the three-run home run.
- Carlisle was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, three RBI, a triple and two steals.
- Maida went 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI.
- Cutchall drew two walks and scored twice.
- Sewell recorded a hit and threw three runners out trying to steal.
Rhodes Game 2 Notes
- Rose was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
- Samuels went 2-for-3.
- Bresler was 2-for-3 with two runs RBI and a run scored.
