Warriors Take Series from Lynx

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College softball team won the three game-series from Rhodes College with a 7-6 victory on the road Sunday in Southern Athletic Association play.

The Warriors (10-7, 4-5) outhit the Lynx (16-12, 4-2) 16-9 in the game.

Hendrix took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. Senior third baseman Sydney Ozersky led off with a single, moved to second on grounder and scored on a double from junior designated player Morgan Maida. Junior first baseman Nikki Sanders plated Madia with a base hit.

The Orange & Black added three more runs in the third. Junior right fielder Bryanna Carlisle led off with a base hit, stole second and scored on a triple from Ozersky. Sophomore pitcher Emily Stockalper followed with a home run to give the Warriors a 5-0 advantage.

Rhodes answered with four runs in the bottom of the third on four hits and an error. Catcher Kendall Henry hit a two-run double in the frame.

In the top of the fifth, Maida led off with a double and was lifted for junior pinch runner Rebecca Maeder, who scored on a single by freshman center fielder Aubery Brink.

Rhodes third baseman Christine Hume led the bottom of the fifth with a double and later scored from third as part of a double steal to make the game 6-5. Hendrix scored again in the sixth when Ozersky doubled and was knocked in by Stockalper's double through the left side. The Lynx had the final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI-single by second baseman Jill Healy.

Stockalper (7-3) earned the win by allowing nine hits, five earned runs and striking out three. Allison Long (3-6) allowed five hits two runs in two innings to take the loss.

- Maida tied the school record with three doubles in the game. She also scored a run and had a RBI.
- Ozersky went 4-for-4 with thee runs scored, a double and a triple.
- Stockalper went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in, a double and a home run.
- Carlisle had two hits, scored a run and stole a base.
- Brink and Sanders both had two hits and a RBI.

- Henry recorded a two-run double.
- First baseman Kayla Rose had two hits and stole two bases.
- Center fielder Kirsten Samuels also had two hits and stole a base.
- Healy finished with two hits.

Up Next
Hendrix will travel to Clermont, Fla. to compete in The Spring Games. They start their eight-game trip against Kalamazoo and New Paltz on Tuesday.
