CLERMONT, Fla. - The Hendrix College softball team lost to New Paltz State 6-5 in nine innings at The Springs Games Tuesday afternoon.
The Hawks (1-5) took a 2-0 lead in the third on a pair of hits and an error. They went up 4-0 with three hits in the fourth. Shortstop Taylor LaFrance had a RBI-double in the frame.
The game remained 4-0 until the bottom of the seventh when the Warriors (10-9) tied it up to force extras. Freshman first baseman
Stephanie Combs led off with a single and was ran for by junior
Rebecca Maeder. Freshman center fielder Miranda Cutcahll singled to right then junior right fielder
Bryanna Carlisle drove in Maeder with a base hit. Senior second baseman
Victoria Hughes reached on a fielder's choice while Carlisle was put out at second for the first out of the inning. Sophomore catcher
Karli Sewell drove in Cutchall with a base hit to right to make it 4-2. Sewell was ran for by freshman
Hannah Billings then senior third baseman
Sydney Ozersky tied it up with a triple to center. .
New Paltz took a lead in the eighth with a run, but Hendrix tied it back up when sophomore pinch hitter
Dasha Donahoe tripled to scored junior

The Hawks scored again in the top of the ninth on a RBI-single by second baseman Shannon Fee. The Warriors were held scoreless in the ninth, allowing New Paltz to win 6-5.
Lauren Capello (1-3) picked up the win in relief, striking out one and allowing a hit and an unearned run in 2.1 innings. Sophomore
Savannah Draud (1-2) took the loss, giving up 10 hits, two earned runs and three walks with a career-high eight strikeouts over nine innings.
