CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team caused a school record 24 turnovers in Wednesday's 8-6 victory against Hanover College at Warrior Field.
The Warriors (2-2) created havoc on defense, holding the Panthers (0-2) to 11-of-26 on clear attempts. Hendrix also picked up 28 ground balls.
Hanover had a 2-0 lead five minutes into the game. The Warriors answered with goals from
Reilly Frazier,
Bridget Umble and
Morgan Dasch over a 55 second stretch to take the lead. The Panthers tied it up at the 13:34 mark of the first half, but Dasch scored on an Umble assist 1:15 before half to take a 4-3 lead at the break.
Hanover went up 5-4 after two goals to open the second half. Frazier and junior
Kaitlyn Smith tied it up at 18:20 left, the Frazier's third goal of the game gave the Hendrix the lead for good with 15:36 on the clock. Dasch completed a hat trick with a free position shot with 9:59 remaining. Emma Boomershine scored the final goal of the game for Hanover with 9:21 left.
For the game, the Warriors had eight goals, six assists, 36 shots, 28 on goal, 28 ground balls, nine draw controls, 16 turnovers and 24 caused turnovers while going 11-of-16 on clears. The Panthers had six goals, two assists, 13 shots, 10 on goal, 24 ground balls, seven draws, 35 turnovers and 10 caused turnovers.
