CLERMONT, Fla. - The Hendrix College softball team wrapped their eight-game week at The Spring Games with a 6-2 victory over the University of Southern Maine Friday.
The Warriors (12-13) opened the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Senior shortstop
Victoria Hughes led off with a single and was bunted to second on a sacrifice by junior right fielder
Bryanna Carlisle. Sophomore catcher
Karli Sewell knocked in Hughes with a base hit up the middle. Sophomore left fielder
Emily Stockalper plated Sewell with a single to center.
The Huskies (5-5) tied the game in the fourth on a two-run single by Amber Kelly. Hendrix regained the lead with three runs in the fifth. Freshman center fielder
Aubrey Brink led off with a walk and was bunted to second by Hughes. With two outs, Sewell drove in Brink with a base hit, then Sewell scored on a double by senior third baseman
Sydney Ozersky. Stockalper knocked in Ozersky with a double to give the Warriors a 5-2 lead.
Hendrix added a final run in the top of the seventh when Hughes reached on an error and scored on a base hit by Sewell.
Sophomore
Savannah Draud (2-3) earned the win by striking out four and giving up nine hits, two runs and two walks. Kelly (2-2) took the loss by allowing seven hits, five runs and a walk over 4.2 innings.

- Sewell went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
- Stockalper was 2-for-4 with a pair or RBI and a double.
- Ozersky went 2-for-3 with a run scored, a RBI and a double.
- Brink had a hit and a run scored.
- Hughes recorded a single, two runs scored, a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt.

- Shortstop Mary Caron went 3-for-4 with a run scored.
- Catcher Courtney Davis was 2-for-3 with a double.
- Right fielder Brittany Plowman also had two hits.
