CLERMONT, Fla. - The Hendrix College softball team lost 3-2 to the University of Chicago at The Spring Games Friday morning.
The Warriors (11-13) scored the first run of the game in the top of the third. With one out, freshman center fielder
Aubrey Brink drew a walk and senior second baseman
Victoria Hughes hit an infield single. Senior right fielder
Bryanna Carlisle was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Sophomore catcher
Karli Sewell was walked, plating Brink.
Hendrix scored again in the fourth when junior designated player
Morgan Maida drew a walk and was pinch ran for by junior
Rebecca Maeder. Freshman shortstop
Taylor Oglesby bunted Maeder over to second, followed by a base hit from junior first baseman
Nikki Sanders to give the Orange & Black a 2-0 advantage.
The Maroons (7-2) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth after a RBI-single from first baseman Carli Schulz and and a sacrifice fly from catcher Sara Koniewicz.
Center fielder Maeve Garvey led the sixth off with a solo home run to center field to give Chicago the 3-2 win.
Reliever Molly Moran (3-1) earned the win with six strikeouts with two hits, one run and a walk over 3.2 innings. Megan Stoppleman picked up her second save by allowing a hit and striking out one in the seventh. Sophomore
Emily Stockalper (8-7) took the loss, allowing five hits, three runs, a walk and a strikeout in six frames.
