BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse nearly erased an eight-goal deficit, falling to Birmingham-Southern College 17-16 in rainy Southern Athletic Association action Saturday evening.
The Panthers (5-6, 2-3) jumped out to a 12-4 lead but the Warriors (4-6, 1-3) scored the final four goals of the first half to make the game 12-8. BSC led 17-11 with 21:36 remaining, but Hendrix chipped away at the deficit scoring five consecutive goals over the next 13 minutes. BSC managed maintain position for the majority of the final minutes of the game to hold off the Warriors' come back.
Hendrix recorded 16 goals, nine assists, 33 shots, 24 on goal, 13 ground balls, 17 draw controls, 19 turnovers, five caused turnovers and were 11-of-18 on clear attempts. BSC had 17 goals, five assists, 38 shots, 30 on goal, 21 ground balls, 17 draws, 18 turnovers, eight caused turnovers and were 15-of-19 on clears.
