CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Hendrix College softball team eliminated Rhodes College 5-3 in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Friday evening.
The fifth-seeded Warriors (17-19) took a 2-0 lead in the first when senior shortstop
Victoria Hughes led off with a walk and junior right fielder Brianna Carlisle reached on an error. Sophomore
Karli Sewell singled and another error allowed Hughes to cross the plate. Carlisle scored from the third on the front end of a double steal.
Junior designated player
Morgan Maida hit a solo home run to start the fifth to give Hendrix a 3-0 advantage. The third-seeded Lynx (22-21) tied the game on a three-run homer by third baseman Christine Hume.
The Warriors regained the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth. Senior third baseman
Sydney Ozersky singled and was lifted for junior pinch runner

Nikki Sanders followed with a double, putting both runners in scoring position. Sophomore left fielder
Emily Stockalper drove in both runners on a base hit to give the Orange & Black the 5-3 victory.

Savannah Draud (3-3) struck out two and gave up five hits, three runs and a walk to earn the win. Shannon Tierney (12-12) allowed two hits, two earned runs and two walks with a pair of strikeouts over five innings in the loss.
