BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College men's lacrosse team lost at Birmingham-Southern College 6-4 in a Southern Athletic Association defensive battle Saturday afternoon.
The host Panthers (6-7, 3-2) scored the first five goals of the game to lead 5-0 with 6:12 left in second quarter. Senior
Alex Ortenstone scored for the Warriors (7-6, 2-3) to make the game 5-1 at the break.
In the third quarter, Ortenstone assisted freshman
T. Michael Thomas and sophomore
Matt Latham's goals to make the game 5-3. The game remained scoreless for the next 25 plus minutes before senior
Jason Blatt found the cage for Hendrix with 2:39 remaining. A little more than a minute later Tanner Schneider scored an insurance goal for BSC.
For the game, Hendrix recorded four goals, two assists, 37 shots, 19 on goal, 25 ground balls, won six faceoffs, 22 turnovers and 12 caused turnovers with 24-of-31 on clear attempts. BSC had six goals, four assists, 27 shots, 18 on goal, won eight faceoffs, 29 turnovers, 11 caused turnovers and went 28-of-33 on clears.
