CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team lost 14-13 to Oglethorpe University in Southern Athletic Association action at Warrior Field Saturday.
Before the game, the Warriors (4-8, 1-5) honored their three seniors -
Meghan Ayers,
Gabryele Pochron and
Raychl Reger.
The Stormy Petrels (5-9, 2-3) jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the first 8:08 of the game. Hendrix tied it up over the next 10 minutes, and after being tied 5-5, OU scored the next for goals. Junior midfielder
Shelby Hill scored on a free position shot with one second left in the first half to make the game 9-6 at the break.
The teams traded goals and were tied at 12-12 with 2:53 left. Juliana Altman scored a pair of goals in a span of 22 seconds to put the Petrels up 14-2 with a minute remaining. Reger scored the final goal with eight seconds left on a free position shot.
For the game, the Warriors recorded 13 goals, three assists, 37 shots, 24 on goal, 27 ground balls, 17 draw controls, 21 turnovers and 16 caused turnovers and went 9-of-14 on clear attempts. The Stormy Petrels had 14 goals, five assists, 21 shots, 18 on goal, 20 ground balls, 11 draws, 23 turnovers, 15 caused turnovers and were 10-of-21 on clears.
