Conway, AR - The Hendrix Warriors Dance Team will be holding try-out for their upcoming season. 

Tryouts will be held from September 11-13. The first two days, September 11th and 12th, will involve a 2-hour clinic where the Head Coach and Captain will go over a routine that you will need to prepare for the final day of tryouts. It will be a quick routine with some basic technique that we're more than ready to help you with if you need it. The clinic is optional but we strongly recommend it. If you decide to pass on the clinic, just be sure you're there on the final day of tryouts to learn the routine. We'll have a video with the tryout material sent via GroupMe or email as well. The clinic is a chance for you to learn/practice skills you'll need to demonstrate on the day of tryouts. Once again, don't be intimidated by technique! We're here to help.

The last day, September 13th, will be the actual day of tryouts. You'll be asked to perform the routine for the Head Coach and Captains and then asked to demonstrate a few skills like a single pirouette, a leap of your choice, and any other technique you have that you'd like us to see!

The Hendrix Dance Team is affiliated with the NCAA, therefore all members are considered to be NCAA athletes. This requires us to be held to the standards listed in the Student-Athlete Handbook. 

In order to tryout, you need to have a few things:
A Current Physical
Insurance Card (Photocopy of Front and Back)
A Sickle Cell Test
All Completed Paperwork (insert link)

The Sickle Cell Test can be done at any medical clinic for a small fee. However, you may already have the results with your birth certificate as most newborns are screened for this in the United States. If you decide to get tested at a clinic, be sure to schedule this in advance. It may take up to two weeks to get your results back. 
 
The Completed Paperwork. You simply need to print it off and bring a hard copy to the Captain (Varenya Nallur) before the due date. You can also email it to her at NallurVV@hendrix.edu. Also, don't be intimidated by the part regarding previous dance experience! A lot of the members on the team this year and in the past have joined with little to no experience and are now steady members, consistently improving.
