Cannon's Cannon in Double Overtime Lifts Hendrix Past Sewanee in Conway

CONWAY, Ark. - After opening up its first two Southern Athletic Association games on the road, the Warriors were given the opportunity to return back to Conway to take on Sewanee Tigers in its first home conference contest of the season. Both teams end up literally going back and forth for over 100 minutes of action until senior forward Evie Cannon connected on her eighth goal of the season when she fired a rocket past the Sewanee keeper, which was set up by junior Khenli Harp, for the game-ending golden goal that sent Hendrix to a perfect 3-0 SAA start to the year. With the win, Hendrix improves to 9-3-0 on the season; the Warriors' best 12-game start since joining the SAA.

WHAT WAS SAID
"I'm very excited for the girls that we got a great result today," stated a happy Head Coach Jeff Trimble. "Sewanee is a good program and are well coached. We need to continue to be more consistent during these games. We worked hard today but at times lacked composure on the ball and turned it over to many times. It was awesome to see the girls respond in overtime to get that victory. We will enjoy this tonight and get ready to play Centre on Sunday."

UP NEXT
Centre, one of six remaining NCAA Division III women's soccer programs who remain undefeated for the 2018 season, will take on Hendrix in a clash of the top teams of the SAA Sunday. Centre and Hendrix, both 3-0 in SAA play, will begin at 11 a.m.
