Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Keith Kelley

Colonels End Warriors' Magnificent Season in Kentucky Friday

CONWAY, Ark. - After an impressive come-from-behind 4-1 victory over Sewanee a week ago to open up conference postseason play, No. 4 Hendrix searched for a huge victory Friday night in Danville, Ky. as it was a rematch of the 2017 Southern Athletic Association Championship Game when the Warriors took on No. 1 and nationally ranked Centre. As the Colonels defeated the Warriors 2-0 in early October, Centre ultimately clinched yet another championship game berth as the Colonels held on for a 2-0 victory Friday as well. With the loss, the season comes to an end for the Warriors but Hendrix still has one of its most prolific seasons in recent history. Finishing with a 11-7-0 overall mark, the Warriors tie the record for most wins in a season in recent program history and sustain a new record for winning percentage at .611 as well.

WHAT WAS SAID
"First of all, credit goes to Centre," stated Head Coach Jeff Trimble following the game Friday. "They have a talented team and played with a lot of energy tonight. I was proud of our girls and how hard they played the entire 90 minutes. We gave ourselves a couple opportunities and we just have to capitalize on that in the future. I'll be honest, I'm going to miss this senior group. They have had a great four years representing Hendrix and our athletic program. We look forward to keeping the winning tradition going."

FINAL SAY
All in all, this was one of the most prolific teams in Hendrix Women's Soccer history. With nine seniors departing ways, be sure to stay tuned on the 2019 Hendrix Women's Soccer program when we preview the 2019 team in July.
