Warriors Fall to BSC to End Magnificent Season

ROME, Ga. - After sweeping its 15th opponent of the season following a 3-0 victory over Millsaps on Friday, No. 3 Hendrix looked to avenge a 2017 SAA Tournament defeat to No. 2 Birmingham-Southern when the Warriors took on the Panthers yet again in the postseason Saturday evening in Rome, Ga. After hitting under .000 in the opening set, the Panthers ended up defeating Hendrix in straight sets to end the Warriors' incredible season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 10-2 at the start of the match, the Warriors struggled to get going offensively.
- A nice 4-0 run, highlighted by a powerful kill from junior Lauren Dwyer and a service ace from senior Hannah Moore, brought the Warriors within three at 11-8.
- The Panthers used a 3-0 run and a 4-0 run to take the opening set 25-16.
- After hitting .200 in the second frame and recording 13 team kills, BSC took the second set 25-20.
- Trailing two sets to none, the Panthers utilized a pair of 5-0 runs in the third set to end the Warriors' season Saturday night in Rome, Ga; falling in the third set 25-21.
- Sophomore Jeanette McGrath tallied a team-best 23 digs and four assists against BSC.
- Senior Amber Melcher added a team-high 22 assists and five digs.
- Sophomore Mallory Carty recorded a .400 attack percentage after obtaining two kills on five total attacks.
- A day after recording her 10th double-double of the season, Dwyer nine digs and three kills in three sets of action.

FINAL SAY
For the second-straight season, the Warriors' season comes to an end at the semifinals of the SAA Tournament. However, after Hendrix recorded a 13-17 overall record a year ago, Head Coach Brittany Newberry has given Hendrix its fifth 20+ win season in the last six years in just her first year coaching at Hendrix.
