Grand Prairie, TX - The Hendrix baseball team spent the day in Texas with the third game of the Rusty Greer & Jackie Moore Collegiate Classic were they were matched-up with Bearcats of Willamette. The Warriors sported a 0-2 overall record coming into the game.
The game began with the Warriors looking to strike first but the Willamette pitcher worked a quick first inning to keep the game scoreless.
After allowing five runs in the bottom of the first inning the Warriors went up to the plate in the fourth inning with an aggressive approach and two batters recorded hits and got a run on the board.
Tanner Cooper got the party started getting on base by a walk, followed by a single from
Matthew Lillard. With two runners on
Jake Wiegand punished a ball in the right center gap which was good enough for a single and a RBI.
Hendrix would get another run on the board in the fifth inning by getting an RBI from a single to bring the score to 5-2. That would be the last run for HC as they would ultimately fall 8-2.
Wiegand was the offensive catalyst with three hits and one RBI.
Sean Dehne put together a great game going 2-4 at the plate with a run scored.
The loss gave Hendrix an 0-3 overall record.
The Warriors will get back to action this Tuesday, Feb. 13th with another non-conference match-up. They will make the short trip to Clarksville, AR to take on the Ozarks Eagles. First pitch is set for 1:30 pm.
