Softball Swept in Day One of Warriors Spring Fling

Conway, AR - The Hendrix College Softball team hosted day one of their Warriors Spring Fling event today. In their first game of the day they took on Westminster and unfortunately fell 16-1 in five innings. The second match-up of the day would be against Centenary where HC would get defeated 7-4.

In game one WC's offense would come out red hot putting seven runs on the board in the opening four innings.

The Warriors would open their scoring in the fifth inning. Karli Sewell got the momentum started by getting a single. Morgan Maida and Deva Bharne loaded the bases with a single and walk respectively, and Laura Mortan broke the Warriors onto the scoreboard with a single getting Sewell home. Unfortunately this would prove to be little to late as WC would take the 16-1 victory.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Centenary would take the win in game two by using a six run first inning to take a large enough lead to hold off the Warrior offense. Hendrix would score four runs in the game coming from; Mortan, two from Bharne, and  Jordan Mallard.

The losses drop Hendrix to 2-3 overall as they look forward to hosting day two of the Warriors Spring Fling tomorrow. The first game is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. as they have a rematch with Westminster. Game two is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the Warriors will take on Centenary. The games will again be hosted by the University of Central Arkansas.
