Conway, AR - The Warriors baseball team welcomed a non-conference foe in the Millikin Big Blue for a home match-up. Hendrix looked to improve on their 1-4 overall record.
As game started the Warriors struck first in the bottom half of the first. The first batter,
Jorge Leon, reached on a single to the pitcher and was advanced on a walk. A single to the right field brought the first run home and gave Hendrix an early 1-0 lead.
The Big Blue would respond by manufacturing a run in their half of the second inning. Â
Adding another run in the top half of the third was the Big Blue as they took the lead 2-1. Â
Millikin looked to add more runs in their half of the fourth inning and they did just that bringing home three more runs.
The bottom of the fourth inning saw the Warriors take advantage of Millikin to take the lead from them 7-5.Â
Seth Tucker led the inning off and reached first base on a single to second base.Â
Sean Dehne singled to left center and then Tucker moved up to second base. A single let both base runners advance to second and third with no outs.Â
Layton Burge recorded a RBI on a walk. There would be five more RBI's recorded in the inning.
The strong offensive nature of this game continued and the Big Blue struck again, taking a 8-7 lead back.
The sixth inning began and Millikin was was able to add onto their lead growing it to 17-7. Hendrix would get one more run across before Millikin would take the 17-8 victory.
Hendrix was able to tally 11 hits compared to the 22 by the Big Blue.
The loss dropped the Warriors record to 1-5 overall. Hendrix will continue their home game stretch as they begin SAA conference play against the Centre Colonels. The double header is scheduled for Saturday, February 24 and first pitch is set for 1:00 pm.
