Warriors Wrap Up Day With Afternoon Split

Conway, AR - The Hendrix Warriors softball team hosted a SAA Conference doubleheader with two Saturday afternoon games. The Warriors earned themselves a split as Birmingham Southern won the opening tilt 9-1. HC then came out victorious in the latter half of gameplay 4-2.

For more, here's how game one played out.

After the Birmingham Southern jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning, the Panthers bats continued to swing strong in the top of the second frame with four more runs. What was once a two-run deficit for Hendrix had grown to a six-run defect by the end of the second inning (6-0).

The Panthers didn't stop there. In the top of the fourth inning BSC would add on another run. The Birmingham Southern lead had ballooned to 7-0 after four innings of action.

HC would look to strike back the bottom half of the fourth frame. Jordan Mallard knocked in the first HC run of the game with a double up the middle. After this HC had cut their defect to 7-1.

The Panthers responded with two-runs in the top of the fifth inning and those would be the last runs scored for the rest of the affair as HC would fall 9-1 in game one.

The final game of the day went much better for Hendrix. The Warriors would score two early runs before the Panthers would crack the scoreboard. Tied up 2-2 after three innings of play, Deva Bharne gave the Warriors a strong pulse with her RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Hendrix would add on one more run in the contest to take the 4-2 win.

The split brings the Warriors record to 7-7 overall, 2-3 SAA.

Hendrix will now finish their match-up with the Panthers in their next scheduled game on March 11 th at home. First pitch for the game is slated for 12:00 p.m.
