Conway, AR - The Hendrix men's lacrosse team earned a victory tonight as they tallied eight unanswered goals spanning more than two quarters to cruise past non-conference foe, Dubuque 10-2. The Warriors received a command performance from sophomore
Elias Ramos who potted two goals and dished out two assists in the win.
The Warriors came out of the gates slowly as they allowed a Spartan goal early in the first period to go down 1-0. The Warriors would even the score at 1-1 when junior
Drew Scanlan buried a shot off a nice assist from Ramos with 2:23 remaining in the second period. Hendrix would capitalize on a defensive miscue by the Spartans one minute later to grab the lead 2-1.
After a Dubuque goal right after halftime, the game would turn as the Warriors offense awoke and went on a huge run. A tally just 30 seconds after the Dubuque goal by
Dominic Dachille put HC back in the lead and Hendrix would then tack on two more goals in the third period to carry a 5-2 lead into the final period.
The fourth period would prove to be disastrous for Dubuque as Hendrix came out on fire, netting five unanswered goals. In the period, Ramos netted a pair of goals while
Jack Gorman,
Cullen Robinette, and Scanlan found the back of the net as well. The Warriors would take the final 10-2 victory.
The Warriors dominated in every facet of play in the win, outshooting the visiting team 61-25 and winning the ground ball war 33-21.
Hendrix will continue non-conference play with a showdown against Southern Virginia University on Tuesday (3/13) at 7pm at home.Â
