Warriors Split on Day One of Spring Games

Clermont, FL - The Warriors looked to start off day one of the Spring Games strong as they took on Carroll University and Elmhurst. Hendrix would fall in the first match-up to Carroll 6-5 but they would take the win against the Blue Jays 7-2.

In the first game the Warriors came in looking to improve on their 7-8 record.

The Warriors would score early in the first inning after Bryanna Carlisle walked and was advanced on a Deva Bharne single. Karli Sewell would double to bring home Carlisle with no outs for the Warriors. HC would score one more run before the end of their half of the inning to take the 2-0 lead.

In the second inning Carroll would get on the board with three runs and the Pioneers ended the inning up 3-2.

Hendrix would tie the game up in the top of the third with Bharne starting off the inning with a hit. Sewell would follow this up with a hit of her own bringing home Bharne. After the inning the Warriors were tied 3-3.

Hendrix would strike again with a run in the top of the fifth taking advantage of two Carroll errors. This would give HC the lead back 4-3.

Hendrix would put up one more run in the top of the seventh; Sewell began with a double. Nikki Sanders would ground out but advanced pinch runner Hannah Billings to third on the play. Billings would score on a Jordan Mallard single to further extend the Warriors lead. Going into the bottom of the seventh Hendrix led Carroll 5-3.

Carroll would add three runs in the bottom of the seventh to overcome the Warriors 6-5.

In the second game of the day Hendrix took on Elmhurst looking for a big win.

The game would get off to a quick start as HC would score in the first inning. 

Taylor Oglesby would reach on a fielders choice and scored on a Nikki Sanders double. The Warriors held the early 1-0 lead.

Hendrix would score three more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Three errors in the inning and solid hitting by Hendrix netted them three runs and they held a 4-0 advantage.

The Blue Jays answered back in the top of the fifth scoring a run to cut their defect to 4-1. 

Hendrix would score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth off of no hits. Errors would contribute to the scoring for the Warriors and they now held an 6-1 lead over the Blue Jays.

Hendrix would score again in the bottom of the six scoring one run. Oglesby singled to left field and Karli Sewell brought her home on a double to left center.  After the Hendrix half of the sixth they held a 7-1 lead.

Elmhurst added a run in the top of the seventh but Hendrix still held the lead 7-2 and would take the victory.

The win brings the Warriors overall record 8-9.
