First Half Surge Leads Warriors to Big Win

Englewood, FL - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team took to the field on Thursday afternoon against Benedictine University, looking for a final win in their Florida trip.

The Warriors dominated in the game's opening half, finding themselves up 6-0 about halfway through the opening frame. The Warriors opened the scoring with a goal from senior Kaitlyn Smith.

Bridget Umble scored the next goal to bring HC up two and senior Shelby Hill gave Hendrix the 3-0 lead four minutes later. Smiths second of the night came just four minutes later, brining the Warriors lead to 4-0 with just over 18 minutes left in the first.

After another Hendrix goal brought the lead to 5-0; Morgan Dasch connected on a goal. The goal gave the Warriors a 6-0 lead.

Hendrix wasn't done, netting goal number seven from Umble just over two minutes later to put Hendrix up 7-0. Hill, Alison Watanabe, Reilly Frazier, and Dasch all added another goal to the Warriors lead, each scoring just before half to give the Warriors an 11-3 lead heading into the break.

The second half opened with the Warriors on fire offensively, after scoring the last three goals of the opening half Hendrix opened the second with three straight. Dasch, Smith, and Hill all added to the Warriors lead as they took control in the final 30 minutes taking the 16-10 victory.

Seven different Warriors found their way onto the score sheet led by Dasch who finished with an incredible four goals and six total points. Smith ended the night with four goals. Hill added three goals for three total points.

Junior Alexis Truitt dominated in between the pipes as the Warriors ran away with the 16-10 win. Hendrix improved to 5-3 on the young season and will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Sewanee for a 12:00 pm start.
