Sewanee, TN - The Hendrix College women's lacrosse team traveled to face the Tigers of Sewanee in a SAA Conference show down. The two teams didn't disappoint, putting on an instant classic where the Tigers ended up defeating the Warriors 16-3.
In what turned out to be a tough game, the Tigers struck first less than one minute into the game to give Sewanee a 1-0 lead. Sewanee would score the next four goals to hold the 5-0 lead at the 22:35 mark of the first half.
The Warriors stormed back and scored their first goal of the game at the 19:31 mark to cut their defect to 5-1.
Bridget Umble netted the goal off a feed from
Morgan Dasch.
The two teams traded shots as the first half came to a close; Sewanee finding the back of the net six more times. The Warriors entered half with a ten-goal deficit.
After the half Sewanee came out firing again, increasing their lead to as many as 15 goals.
Alison Watanabe would add two more goals for HC, however it would not be enough so they would ultimately fall 16-3.
Watanabe had two goals for the Warriors with Umble adding one goal. Junior
Alexis Truitt made eight saves.
The loss drops Hendrix to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in SAA play as they will have a week until they host Birmingham Southern at 11 am for senior day.
