Conway, AR -Â The Hendrix College Softball team returned to action for a non-conference doubleheader.
The Warriors who sat at 4-6 overall, 1-2 SAA, took on the University of the Ozarks.
The Warriors struck first in game one. Hendrix jumped out with a two run, three hit first inning to gain the lead.Â

Deva Bharne was the catalyst with a single to set the tone early. Not to be out done,Sewell smacked a single of her own to bring home Bharne who had advanced to second on a wild pitch and break open the scoring. The second run came after Sanders knotted an RBI to build on the lead.
The Warriors added another run to their total in the bottom half of the third inning and
Jordan Mallard found herself right in the middle of it. Mallard led-off the inning with a double and then advanced to third on a ground out from Sanders. With an opportunity to drive in another run for Hendrix,
Taylor Oglesby wasted no time with a sacrifice fly to bring home Mallard and extend the lead to 3-0.Â
The three runs were all the runs the Warriors needed to win as they would defeat UO 3-2. Leading the offense was Bharne who recorded three hits and one run scored.
A game two win would give the Warriors the sweep of UO.
The game was tight early on as the teams would not give in and HC found themselves down 2-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.
It was the Warriors who struck in the bottom of the fourth tallying two runs to retake the lead. The inning began with a Sanders single. With two outsÂ
Jaydan Hunt reached on a single and then advanced to second on the throw.Â
Aubrey Brink would reach on an error that brought pinch runner
Rebecca Maeder home to tally the third HC run of the game.
Laura Mortan took the initiative in the bottom of the fifth as she singled to bring home Sewell to give the Warriors a two-run cushion.
Following Mortan was
Hannah Billings who reached on a single. Sanders then delivered a sacrifice fly for a RBI to give Hendrix a 5-2 advantage.
After one more run the Warriors would take the 6-2 game two victory and the sweep of Ozarks.
The wins give Hendrix a 6-6 overall record. The Warriors will next take on Birmingham Southern this upcoming weekend at home.Â
