Shreveport, LA - The Warriors softball team traveled to Centenary College on Monday afternoon, looking to keep their current win streak alive. Keep the streak alive they did, as Hendrix got phenomenal pitching and timely hitting during a sweep of the Ladies 5-3 and 5-1.
The Warriors were coming off of a sweep in a SAA Conference doubleheader against Rhodes and they rode that momentum through Monday's results.
Game one saw juniorÂ
Emily Stockalper on the hill and she was cruising. In eight innings Stockalper gave up just four hits and two earned runs as she struck out three.Â
The Warriors did not go scoreless; however, taking charge early in the first. The Warriors started the inning with a single up the middle by
Bryanna Carlisle. A
Deva Bharne SAC bunt advanced Carlisle to second, and a
Nikki Sanders single brought her home to take the 1-0 lead.
Centenary would score two runs in the bottom of the third and the Ladies ended the third with a one run lead.
Hendrix would add one more run in the fifth and three more in the eighth inning to ultimately take the win 5-3.
Karli Sewell finished game one with three hits and Sanders had two as the Warriors improved to 15-13 overall.
Game two continued just as game one had, especially on the mound for Hendrix.
Savannah Draud would continue her dominance, pitching seven innings and striking out six. In game two she scattered four hits and walked just one.
Sanders drove in two runs in game two, including a two run home run in the fifth.
Jordan Mallard continued her great play as well, getting two more hits and scoring once in the 5-1 win.
Hendrix now sits at 16-13 overall, as they look to host Millsaps on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
