HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors got on the board in just over 15 minutes into regulation after a nice goal from senior Grant Gartner. Sophomore Jack Butler scooped up the assist on the goal.
- The two sides went back and forth for the remainder of the half and for 20+ minutes into the second half.
- Gartner ended up finding freshman Ricky Barrientos at the 65:44 mark for a commanding 2-0 lead with less than 25 minutes to play in regulation.
- Junior Safin Attwal all but iced the game as he found the net at the 85:05 mark for a 3-0 Warriors lead.
WHAT WAS SAID
"I am really happy for the group to get a positive result and a clean sheet in our opening match of the season," stated Head Coach
Matt Kern. "We certainly had the better of possession, but MacMurray was dangerous on the counter attack and off of set pieces. Pleased we scored three different types of goals; Gartner off a rebound, Barrientos from distance, and Attwal getting in behind their back four. We will recover and look forward to Sunday against a very athletic Centenary team."
UP NEXT
Hendrix remains in Conway and continues its three-game home stand to open up the season with a meeting against the Centenary (La.) Gents on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Warrior Field.Â
