JACKSON, Miss. - After an impressive five-set thrilling victory over Rhodes to open up Southern Athletic Association play Wednesday, the Warriors (9-1, 2-0 SAA) looked to improve to 2-0 in the SAA but a showdown against Millsaps (5-5, 0-2 SAA) stood in the way of that happening. The Warriors managed to defeat Millsaps 25-17 in three straight sets to pull out the big road sweep in Jackson, Miss, 3-0 to improve to 9-1, 2-0 SAA for the 2018 season. The 9-1 start to the season is the best start to a Hendrix Volleyball season in school history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing 3-0 to open up the match, sophomore
Mallory Carty and junior Kiersten Huitt teamed up on a block assist to get the Warriors some momentum.
- A quick 5-0 run helped Hendrix take a 14-8 lead and ultimately win the second set 25-17.
- After trailing 9-11 in the second, Hendrix recorded a 6-1 run and capped the second set off with a 5-0 run highlighted by an ace by freshman
Sadie Walker and a block by Carty.
- With the Majors leading 16-14, back-to-back kills by junior
Lauren Dwyer helped ignite a 8-0 that sealed the third set as well as the match victory.
- Dwyer, who leads the SAA in kills with 118, pitched in a team-best eight kills and a game-high three service aces.
- Sophomore
Allison Long managed to finish with a .667 attack percentage on the day on six attacks. Her .396 attacking percentage leads the conference and is 22nd individually in the NCAA.
- Freshman Clarie Smith and senior
Amber Melcher recorded 11 assists apiece and combined for eight digs on the day.

"Winning on the road isn't easy so I commend my girls for showing up and taking care of business today," Head Coach
Brittany Newberry stated proudly. "We improved in some areas and need to sharpen up in some areas but we continue to get better. I am excited to get to Birmingham, Ala., rest up, and take on Birmingham Southern tomorrow."

Hendrix remains on the road for another SAA matchup, this time with Birmingham-Southern Sunday. The Warriors and BSU are set to begin at 12 p.m. Hendrix and BSU are two of the three teams who remain undefeated in SAA play (Berry).
