Box Score SHERMAN, Texas - Looking to get back to the winning side of things following the overtime heartbreaker against Centre last week, Hendrix hit the road to Sherman, Texas for a pivotal Southern Athletic Association contest against Austin College. For the fifth time this year, the Warriors scored on its opening possession as the Warriors scored 13 points in the first period and seven more in the second quarter as Hendrix cruised to a 41-6 rout of Austin College Saturday afternoon.
Miles Thompson finished 20-of-27 for a season-best 350 yards and five total touchdowns while only playing in three quarters as the Warriors pick up another huge conference win on the road. Hendrix improves to 5-2 on the year with a 3-2 mark in SAA action while Austin College drops to 4-3 on the year with a 3-2 mark in conference. Hendrix jumps up to the fourth spot in the 2019 SAA football standings after the 29-point win at Austin College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Thompson found
Chad McGonigal from 28 yards out to cap off an eight-play, 84-yard drive as Hendrix took the 7-0 lead with 10:26 to go in the first quarter.
- After AC crawled within a point,
Kip VanHoose returned the ensuing kickoff 84 yards to the house to give Hendrix the 13-6 advantage with 4:54 left in the first quarter.
- Thompson scampered from 13 yards out with 11:33 left in the first half to give Hendrix the 20-6 advantage.
- With 4:17 left in the third, Thompson scored his fourth touchdown of the day via a 43-yard strike to
Blake Hinton to put Hendrix up 34-6.
- The fifth and final touchdown from Thompson came 14:49 in the fourth period on a 15-yard pass to
Colton Phillips; his first collegiate touchdown.
- AC scored once more under a minute to go to make the score: Hendrix 41, Austin College 12 as Hendrix picked up another huge SAA road win.
OFFENSIVE NOTABLES:
- Thompson finished 20-for-27 passing with 350 yards through the air; also recorded a season-high five total touchdowns (four passing, one rushing). The redshirt junior also rushed 10 times for 59 yards and the one score.
- VanHoose accounted for 11 rushes on 44 yards Saturday against Austin College.
- Hinton recorded seven catches for a team-high 107 yards and one score.
- McGonigal finished with 95 yards and two touchdowns on just two receptions while Phillips recorded his first collegiate touchdown and finished with 65 receiving yards off three catches.
- As a collective unit, Hendrix finished with 549 yards of total offense while the Roos finished with an even 300.
DEFENSIVE NOTABLES:

Matthew Scirto accounted for a team-best seven tackles Saturday while also recording one tackle for loss and one blocked kick on an extra-point attempt.

Mitchell Johnson and
Mason Adams each finished with five total tackles Saturday while Adams also recorded 1.5 sacks for a combined loss of 17 yards.

Canon Roeder also accounted for four tackles Saturday, three of which were solo ones.

Ronnie McShan had an interception return for 12 yards in the fourth quarter.
- Hendrix's defense limited the Roos to just 139 yards on the ground and 161 yards through the air.

Charles-Antoine Gingras recorded four kickoffs for 197 yards (49.3 average) while
Jackson Bryant recorded a pair of kickoffs for 64 yards (32.0 average).
- No punts for Hendrix were recorded Saturday.
- VanHoose returned the 84-yard kickoff for a score in the first quarter while
Braden Shaffer returned three kickoffs for 20 yards.

NOTABLE INFORMATION:
- In a series that dates back to 1915, the Warriors improve to 5-6 all-time against the Austin College Roos and have now won three out of the last four in the series.
- The 350 passing yards from Thompson is the most since Nov. 2, 2017 versus Rhodes (497).
