Jenkins' Career-High 16 Rebounds Lifts Warriors to 64-57 Season-Opening Win

Box Score SHREVEPORT, LA. – Hendrix embarked on one of its three shortest road trips Sunday as the Warriors hit the road to Shreveport, La. for a season-opening tilt against the Centenary (La.) Ladies. Hendrix, who had won five consecutive meetings against the Ladies, entered the fourth quarter with a two-point lead but the Warriors outscored the Ladies 19-14 in the final 10 minutes of action for the 64-57 win against Centenary Sunday. Kessie Jenkins produced a career-best 16 rebounds in 28 minutes of action while nine points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor. Anissa Gutierrez recorded 16 points and three boards in her collegiate debut while shooting 7-of-10 from the free throw line. Hendrix improves to 1-0 on the season after the seven-point win Sunday.

OF NOTE
- Centenary held the lead for a couple of times in the opening quarter but freshmen Cassidy Salyer and Ali Isbell scored the final five points for Hendrix as the Warriors controlled the 12-10 lead after one quarter.
- Gutierrez scored four of the final six points in the second frame as Hendrix trailed 26-25 at the half.
- Gutierrez scored six points in the third, Pruitt and Caroline Wendt added four points each as Hendrix outscored the Ladies 20-17 in the third.
- Fast forwarding to the fourth quarter, Hendrix trailed by two points with seven minutes to go but two free throws by Rachel Woppman tied the game.
- With 5:11 to go, Salyer hit a huge trifecta to put the Warriors up by five as Hendrix led by three points or more the rest of the way for its 64-57 win in the 2019-20 season opener.

BOX SCORE NOTABLE
- Serena Pruitt also nearly carved a double-double after accounting for eight points and 10 boards in 19 minutes of action before fouling out.
- Ali Isbell registered 10 points and four rebounds in her collegiate debut while Cassidy Salyer added eight points in hers.
- Hendrix shot 21-of-53 (39.6 percent) from the floor while holding the Ladies to 17-of-60 (28.3 percent) from the floor on the afternoon.
-  Seven of the 10 players for the Warriors recorded at least six points Sunday in Shreveport, La.

WHO'S NEXT
Hendrix returns back to Conway but remains on the road as the Warriors face Division I Central Arkansas in an exhibition contest Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the Farris Center.
