Women's Basketball Unable to Complete Comeback Against Austin in Final Day of Millsaps Classic

Box Score JACKSON, Miss. - In search of its first win in 12 days, Hendrix battled (RV) Austin College Sunday for the second time in eight days in the final day of the 2019 Millsaps Classic. The Warriors only found themselves down by six points to a team obtaining national votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll but the Roos outscored Hendrix 15-9 in the final period for the 68-56 win over Hendrix. One day after recording a career-high 13 points against Louisiana College, Ali Isbell registered 12 points and eight boards in 30 minutes. With the loss, Hendrix drops to 2-5 while AC improves to 5-0

OF NOTE
- Caroline Wendt made the first field goal for Hendrix; giving the Warriors the 2-1 lead a minute into the game.
- Kessie Jenkins went on to score four of her eight points in the opening 10 minutes of play as the Warriors trailed 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.
- A jumper by Wendt early in the second period tied the game up at 15 before a 13-0 Roos run gave AC the 28-15 advantage midway through the period.
- After trailing 34-26 after three periods, Wendt once again scored at the beginning of the third period.
- An 8-0 run, highlighted by back-to-back three-pointers by Isbell and Cassidy Salyer brought Hendrix within one, 37-36 with 6:41 to go in the third period.
- A three by Wendt with 2:33 left in the third period brought Hendrix within four, 46-42 but Hendrix trailed 53-47 with 10 minutes left to play.
- AC led by double-digits for the final 5:59 as the Roos carved up the 68-56 win.
 
BOX SCORE NOTABLE
- Wendt shot 5-for-11 on the day and recorded 11 points while Jenkins pulled down six rebounds before fouling out.
- Rachel Woppman recorded four points and seven boards before fouling out in 15 minutes.
- Zoe Mojaver and Cassidy Salyer both hit two trifectas and finished with six points while also recording two assists each.
- Hendrix shot 16-for-61 (26.2 percent) from the floor and 6-for-27 (22.2 percent) from beyond the arc against AC.
- The Warriors also shot 18-for-23 (78.3 percent) at the charity stripe.
- Hendrix's tenacious defense allowed four Roos to shoot a combined 0-for-13 in a combined 53 minutes Sunday.

WHO'S NEXT
Hendrix travels to St. Louis, Mo. to take part in the Washington University-St. Louis Tournament. The Warriors battle Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Friday at 5 p.m. in the event.
