Pruitt Nets Career-High 25 Points But Not Enough as Warriors Fall to BSC

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Freshman guard Serena Pruitt tallied 12 first quarter points and 25 total points Sunday but it was not enough as Hendrix (9-15, 2-11 SAA) fell 65-54 to Birmingham-Southern (9-15, 6-7 SAA) in the next-to-last regular season contest of the 2018-19 season. The Warriors enjoyed a 34-31 halftime lead but with only having eight players, the Panthers outscored Hendrix 36-18 in the final 20 minutes.

TURNING POINT
A 9-0 run early in the third quarter gave the Panthers a four-point cushion. BSC never looked back as the Panthers held the lead for the rest of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Panthers controlled most of the opening frame, freshman guard Serena Pruitt drained a mid-range floater as the first quarter ended to tie the game up at 14-all; capping off Pruitt's outstanding 12-point performance in the first quarter.
- Hendrix scored 13 of the first 18 points in the second half including the first eight of the second frame as the Warriors enjoyed a 27-19 lead with 5:32 left in the half.
- A 9-4 BSC run to close the half brought the Panthers within three at the break.
- BSC outscored the Warriors 18-8 in the third quarter alone to hold a 49-42 lead with 10 minutes left.
- A 9-2 start for the Panthers in the final frame would be enough as Hendrix never got within single digits in the final 8:52 as BSC pulled out a 65-54 victory over the Warriors.

OF NOTE
- Pruitt and freshman guard Sarah Vogel were the two lone Warriors to reach double figures; Vogel with a new career-best 11 points on three three-pointer's.
- Pruitt also pulled down five boards and recorded four steals against the Panthers.
- Freshman guard Rachel Woppman collected a team-best six rebounds and five points on the day.
- Warriors scored 20 points off turnovers while BSC just recorded eight.
- With her 25-point outing, Pruitt now logged double-digit scoring performances for the fifth time this season.
- The Warriors shot 18-for-53 from the floor, 7-of-22 from deep and 11-for-23 at the free throw line while BSC shot 23-for-49 from the field, 9-of-19 from beyond-the-arc and 10-of-17 at the charity stripe.
