Warriors Fall to Pirates at Home

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix scored the first goal Sunday afternoon against Southwestern (TX) but the Pirates' five goals in the second period alone was too much for the Warriors as Southwestern defeated Hendrix 16-7 from Young-Wise Memorial Stadium in Conway. Elias Ramos and Sean Howard carded two goals apiece for the Warriors. Hendrix falls to 2-1 on the season with one final more home game as part of the season-high four-game home stand to open up the season in Conway.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ramos struck for his first goal of the day with 3:48 to go in the opening period right after a successful clear attempt by the Warriors.
- Southwestern struck less than 30 seconds later to tie the game up at 1-all. Both teams were tied after one period.
- The Pirates recorded the first two goals of the second period before Cullen Robinette brought Hendrix within a goal with 13 minutes left until half.
- Southwestern recorded three of the final four goals in the first half as the Pirates held a 6-3 lead at the break.
- Pirates accounted for three scores in the third period and outscored Hendrix 7-2 in the final frame as the Pirates pulled out a 16-7 victory over the home team.

OF NOTE:
- In addition to Ramos and Howard recording a pair of goals Sunday, Drew Scanlan, Brendan Rolland and Robinette accounted for one each as well.
- Patrick Dellinger picked up a game-high seven ground balls while Samuel Martin did so as well; Martin also recorded a defensive save against the Pirates.
- Southwestern ended up causing 15 turnovers while Hendrix recorded just nine.
- The Pirates tallied 49 shots on the day compared to Hendrix's 27.
- Out of its 49 shots, 36 were on goal while Hendrix accounted for 17 shots on goal.

WHO'S NEXT:
After having its first three games of the season at home, the Warriors will wrap up a four-game home stand against Huntingdon Saturday at 3 p.m. from Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.
