Slow Start Allows Vikings to Take Down Warriors in Texas

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Looking for its second win in Georgetown, Texas in as many days, Hendrix (2-1) took on Augustana (Ill.) Sunday in the final game of the 2019 Southwestern Invitational. The Warriors trailed 4-0 for the second consecutive day and the slow start allowed the Vikings to lead for the entire game as Augustana (Ill.) defeated the Warriors Sunday afternoon, 13-10. Morgan Dasch tallied eight goals on the day for the Warriors.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Warriors trailed by four goals seven minutes into the game until Dasch struck for her first goal with 23:02 left until halftime.
- Dasch struck for two more goals in the opening period, one being on a man-up possession, but Hendrix trailed 9-3 at the break.
- After recording nine goals Saturday, Alison Watanabe recorded her long goal Sunday to start the second half with 24:09 to go; Dasch tallied another goal just over a minute later.
- After a 3-0 Vikings run and a 12-3 deficit for the Warriors, Dasch accounted for the next two goals before Sophie Mazzaro recorded one; Hendrix trailed 12-8 with 7:55 to go.
- Augustana (Ill.) added another goal with 6:32 to go.
- Hendrix recorded the last two goals of the game but it was not enough as Hendrix fell to the Vikings, 13-10.

OF NOTE:
- Dasch finished Sunday's game as the lone Warrior with more than one goal against the Vikings. With her eight goals Sunday, it is the third time in four games this season that the senior has tallied at least six goals in a game by herself.
- Alexis Truitt tallied 11 saves in over 56 minutes of work against the Vikings.
- Hannah Burroughs scooped up two ground balls in the loss; five other Warriors carded one ground ball apiece.
- Burroughs caused three turnovers on the day; Mazzaro and Dasch caused two.
- Mazzaro and Watanabe accounted for the two other goals for Hendrix Sunday.
- Dasch and Burroughs won five draw controls each while Calah Justice won five.

The Warriors return back to Conway to open up Southern Athletic Association play. Hendrix takes on Oglethorpe March 2 at 11 a.m. from Warrior Turf.
