Softball Produces Third Straight Run-Rule Victory to Sweep Tigers

CONWAY, Ark. - Following Emily Stockalper's first perfect game since Mar. 23, 2013 on Sunday, the Warriors faced the Tigers one final time Monday afternoon. After Sewanee took an early 2-0 lead, Hendrix bounced back and carved up 17 unanswered runs, good enough for a 17-2 win in five innings against Sewanee. With the win, Hendrix records its third consecutive run-rule win and also the series sweep against the Tigers while also producing 17 runs for the second straight game and outscoring Sewanee 44-4 in the entire three-game series from Conway. Hendrix scored all 17 runs after the first inning and carved up an impressive 13-run performance in the fourth frame. Brooke Lowry carved up season-best five RBIs in the win with three hits, including a two-run home run in the second inning to tie the game. Hendrix improves to 13-2 on the season with a 6-3 mark in Southern Athletic Association play.

NOTABLE:
GAME 1
-  Trailing 2-0, Lowry recorded her first collegiate home run over the left center fence to tie the game up in the second frame.
- Knotted up at 2-all, a throwing error on the Tigers allowed the eventual go-ahead run to score in G. Bryant before Lowry picked up her third RBI of the day on a single back up the middle fo a 4-2 lead for the home team in the third inning.
- After the first five batters reached base in the fourth, Lowry, Hunt and G. Bryant recorded extra-base hits later in the inning as 13 runners crossed the plate in the inning as Hendrix won 17-2 in five innings.
- Lowry finished 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBIs and a pair of runs scored; finished a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
- Sewell and G. Bryant both went 3-for-4 and combined to score five runs between the two as well as four RBIs.
- Reames, Rivera and Brink picked up a pair of hits each in the 15-run victory Monday as well.
- Johnston picked up her first win of the season; her fourth of her career.
- Skyler Teague pitched the final two innings of action for Hendrix; allowing just one hit and striking out two in the outing against the Tigers.
