Warriors Fall to Panthers in Regular Season Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - In the final regular season game of the 2019 season, Hendrix accounted for 21 goals against Birmingham-Southern College but it not quite enough as the Warriors fell to the Panthers, 25-21. BSC jumped out to the early 2-0 lead and never looked back as the Panthers led the entire game. With the loss, the Warriors drop to 6-7 on the year with a 2-4 mark in Southern Athletic Association play while the Panthers improve to 7-9 and 3-3 in conference action. Hendrix will serve as the No. 5 seed and will take on BSC again in the opening round of the SAA Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a quick 2-0 lead by the Pantehrs, Morgan Dasch carded her first goal of the day three minutes into the game to bring Hendrix within a score.
- Four more goals by BSC and Dasch accounted for another score before Alison Watanabe scored her first of the day to bring Hendrix within three with 20 minutes until halftime.
- Dasch and Watanabe scored another score each a few minutes later as Hendrix trailed by a pair of scores but a 3-0 run just past the halfway point of the opening half allowed the Panthers to take the 11-6 lead.
- After trailing 14-10 at the half, Dasch, Watanabe and Justice scored the first three goals of the second half as the Warriors struck for three of the first four goals in the second half to trail 15-13 with 23:56 left.
- A 6-0 BSC run late allowed the Panthers to take all momentum as BSC defeated Hendrix, 25-21.

OF NOTE:
- Dasch and Watanabe added a team-best eight scores each for the Warriors in the four-goal set back.
- Calah Justice accounted for three goals on the day while Hannah Burroughs added one goal and two assists.
- Sophie Mazzaro rounded out the scoring for Hendrix; scoring once off one shot against the Panthers.
- Dasch also collected a team-best five ground balls while obtaining a team-high six draw controls as well.
- Alexis Truitt collected 19 saves on the day for Hendrix in all 60 minutes of work in goal.

WHO'S NEXT:
The Warriors will gear up for the 2019 SAA Women's Lacrosse Championships. Hendrix will serve as the No. 5 seed and will battle BSC from Memphis, Tenn. The day and time of the contest will be released soon.
