Panthers Trip Up Hendrix from Birmingham in Men's Lacrosse

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Looking for its second Southern Athletic Association victory in its last three contests, Hendrix traveled to Birmingham, Ala. for a pivotal game against the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers Saturday afternoon. Hendrix found themselves trailing by a goal with 15 minutes left but BSC outscored the Warriors 8-3 in the final period for the 19-13 victory. With the loss, Hendrix falls to 5-7 on the year with a 1-3 mark in SAA play while BSC improves to 6-7 including an 1-3 mark in SAA competition. Spencer Dorfneilsen, Jack Gorman and Alec Davis all carded three goals each for the Warriors Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- BSC enjoyed a two-goal lead before Hendrix struck for a goal nine minutes into the game, thanks to Dorfneilsen.
- With 3:16 to go in the first period, Gorman recorded his first score of the day and tied the game up at 3-all.
- After a 5-0 BSC run, Davis accounted for his first score to bring Hendrix within four, 8-4 with 3:30 left in the opening half; BSC led 9-4 at the half.
- After a Panther score, Hendrix registered a 5-0 run in the third period which included a goal scored by five different players; Drew Scanlan's score with 4:13 left in the third brought Hendrix within a goal, 10-9.
- Dorfneilsen managed to score a goal with one second left in the third period as Hendrix trailed 12-11 with 15 minutes left.
- With under 10 minutes left, BSC led 13-12 but a 5-0 Panther run allowed BSC to lead 18-12 with three minutes left.
- Gorman carded the last goal for Hendrix on the day with under two minutes to play in regulation as Hendrix lost 19-13.

OF NOTE:
- Davis, Dorfneilsen and Gorman each tallied three goals each while four others scored one goal each in the six-goal loss.
- Dominic Dachille won 15 face-offs as well as scooping up a game-high four ground balls against the Panthers.
- Samuel Martin and Taylor Noack carded the two lone caused turnovers for Hendrix Saturday.
- Noack recorded 15 saves against BSC; third-highest amount of saves on the season.
- Davis and Dorfneilsen finished with four points on the day while Jackson Schneider picked up three ground balls as well.

WHO'S NEXT:
After concluding its five-game road trip, the Warriors return to Conway to take on Sewanee: The University of the South Friday at 7 p.m. from Young-Wise Memorial Stadium in Conway in the next-to-last home game of the 2019 season.
