Women's Lacrosse Tripped Up By the Tigers on Senior Day

CONWAY, Ark. - Playing in its final home contest of the 2019 regular season, Hendrix hosted the Sewanee Tigers in a pivotal Southern Athletic Association contest Saturday afternoon. 
Seniors Alexis Truitt and Morgan Dasch and athletic trainer Shelby Davis were honored prior to the game beginning. After scoring in the opening 75 seconds, the Tigers held the lead early and would not look back as the Sewanee Tigers won, 22-12. With the loss, Hendrix falls to 6-6 and a 2-3 mark in SAA action while Sewanee improves to 11-6 including a 4-1 mark in SAA.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sewanee enjoyed a 2-0 lead before Alison Watanabe recorded a goal to put Hendrix on the scoreboard 10 seconds after the Tigers' second goal.
- Following a 4-0 run by the Tigers, Talitha Joustra, Dasch and Calah Justice logged a 3-0 run as Hendrix trailed 6-4 with over 16 minutes left in the opening half.
- Sewanee countered with another 4-0 run and scored three of the final four goals of the first half as the Tigers lead 13-6 at the break.
- Watanabe scored on a man-up situation to start the second half followed by another Dasch score and the Warriors 13-8 with 29 minutes left.
- The Tigers outscored Hendrix 9-4 in the final 29 minutes of play as Sewanee won, 22-12.

OF NOTE:
- Dasch and Watanabe added a team-high four goals each in the 10-goal loss while Dasch accounted for a pair of assists as well for a team-best six-point performance.
- Hannah Burroughs recorded two goals against Sewanee; also picked up three ground balls and two draw controls too.
- Justice and Joustra accounted for one score each against the Tigers Saturday.
- Justice picked up a team-high four ground balls while Truitt, Burroughs and Sophie Mazzaro picked up three each Saturday.
- Truitt recorded 11 saves in the 60 minutes of action in her final home game of her collegiate career.

WHO'S NEXT:
Hendrix travels to Birmingham, Ala. to battle Birmingham-Southern College Saturday at 12 p.m. in the final regular season contest of the 2019 season.
