Warriors, Blue Jays End in Tie Friday Evening

FULTON, Mo. - Coming off a 5-2 victory over the Central Baptist College Mustangs Tuesday, the Warriors hit the road to Fulton, Mo. for a non-conference contest against the Westminster Bluejays Friday afternoon. It took Hagan Griffith less than three minutes to record her first of the day and 51st of her career at Hendrix but three unanswered goals by the home team gave Westminster the 3-1 edge with 28 minutes left. Trailing by two, Claire Huchingson scored 51 seconds after the Bluejays took the 3-1 lead to pull Hendrix within a goal. Griffith scored again in the 80th minute to send the game into overtime. Both teams remained

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Griffith connected on her 51st career score in the 3rd minute before the Bluejays scored twice in a 10-minute span and once more midway through the second half.
- Trailing 3-1, Huchingson recorded her second goal of her young career in the 61st minute to pull the Warriors within a score.
- Griffith struck for a game-equalizer in the 80th minute for her second goal of the game; both teams remained scoreless in the next 10 minutes to send the game into overtime.
- Both teams managed to carve up one shot each in the first overtime session but the score was still tied at 3-all.
- In the second overtime session, Griffith recorded two shots but neither landed in the back of the net as the Warriors and Blue Jays ended in a tie Friday night.
- Griffith finished with 11 shots on the night; six on goal in addition to her two scores.
- Huchingson accounted for a career-high six shots on the night with the one goal against the Blue Jays Friday.
- As a team, the Warriors outshot Westminster, 23-13.
- Anna Claire Lewis recorded one save in 60:59 of action in goal for Hendrix while Avery Jensen played the final 49:01 and recorded a career-high and team-high four saves Friday night.

WHAT WAS SAID
"Nothing but positive from this game," stated head coach Jeff Trimble. "We learned some lessons; made a mistake on the corner and gave a penalty kick by being a little too aggressive in the box. When you're down 3-1 into the second half, it takes a lot for a team to come back. I was very proud of the girls in the way they attacked,  we also played great, organized defense in the second half. Sometimes when you tie you don't feel too good but we feel really good about this and feel like it's a step forward."

UP NEXT
Hendrix remains on the road in Mo. The Warriors will take on Fontbonne Sunday at 1 p.m. from St. Louis, Mo. before returning to Conway.
