CONWAY, Ark. - In the first home game of 2020, Hendrix welcomed the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern College to Grove Gymnasium Friday evening. While Hendrix led most of the game, the Panthers outscored Hendrix 19-13 in the final 10 minutes including an 8-2 run to end the game as BSC defeated Hendrix, 61-59, inside Grove Gymnasium Friday night. With the loss, Hendrix falls to 2-13 on the season with a 0-4 mark in the Southern Athletic Association while BSC improves to 12-3 on the year with a perfect record of 4-0 in SAA play.

- Hendrix led 15-12 after shooting 7-of-14 (50 percent) from the floor.
- A three-pointer by
Cassidy Salyer midway through the second frame put Hendrix up nine, 39-30, but a quick 7-0 Panther run brought BSC within two, 29-27, with 2:23 left in the half.
- After Hendrix held the 31-29 advantage at the half,
Kessie Jenkins scored eight of her 13 points in the third period as did
Rachel Woppman; scoring all seven of her points while Hendrix led 46-42 with 10 minutes left.
- The Panthers controlled the lead for the first half of the final period until
Anissa Gutierrez's three-pointer gave the home team the lead, 55-53, with 4:43 left. A layup a minute later by
Ali Isbell put Hendrix up by four points with 3:40 left.
- BSC called back-to-back timeouts before a Panther nailed a deep three-pointer as the shot clock buzzer sounded; turning a Warrior two-point advantage into a one-point lead for BSC.
- A quick layup by Isbell with nine seconds left brought Hendrix within a point, 60-59; after BSC hit just one free throw, Isbell missed a layup as time expired as BSC grabbed the 61-59 win.
BOX SCORE NOTABLE
- Jenkins finished just shy of a double-double after recording 13 points and eight rebounds; shot 5-of-11 from the floor.
- Isbell and Salyer added 12 points each while pulling down a combined 10 rebounds.
- Woppman added seven points and three rebounds.
- Gutierrez talllied four assists, three points and three boards while Salyer nailed four three-pointers; the third time the freshman has made at least four in the last four games.
- Hendrix shot 22-for-50 (44 percent) from the floor, 5-of-13 (38.5 percent) from deep and 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) from the charity stripe.
- The 22 field goals made, as a team, tied the most for a single-game mark this season (at Dallas Christian; Nov. 19).
