Warriors Drop SAA Contest at Sewanee Sunday

Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - In search of its first conference win of the year, Hendrix traveled to Sewanee, Tenn. Sunday afternoon to take on the Sewanee Tigers. The Warriors scored twice as many points as the Tigers did in the opening period (16-8) but Sewanee outscored Hendrix 55-31 over the course of the final three quarters as the Tigers defeated Hendrix, 63-47. With the loss, the Warriors fall to 2-16 and 0-7 in Southern Athletic Association play while Sewanee improves to 7-11 and 2-5 in SAA games. Kessie Jenkins tallied a team-high 10 points which included her first two three-pointers of the season on her first three attempts of the season while Rachel Woppman pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds.

OF NOTE
- Jenkins accounted for four points in the first quarter while Woppman did as well along with four rebounds and two steals; the Warriors led 16-8 at the end of the period.
- Cassidy Salyer scored four points in the second quarter but a big 8-2 Tiger run midway through the quarter brought Sewanee within a point, 21-20, with 4:25 left in the half; Sewanee ended the half on a 5-1 run to take a 28-26 lead into the break.
- After Jenkins nailed a three-pointer to start the second half that gave Hendrix the lead, the Tigers scored five straight unanswered points and carded a 7-0 run midway through the third quarter as the home team led 47-37 with 10 minutes left.
- Belle Neilson recorded five points and five rebounds in six minutes in the final quarter but Sewanee outscored Hendrix, 16-10, to record the 63-47 win over the Warriors. 

BOX SCORE NOTABLE
- Jenkins pulled down three rebounds and recorded one assist and shot 2-of-2 from the charity stripe before fouling out.
- Neilson tied a career-best with seven rebounds and set a new career-high of nine points in 17 minutes off the bench.
- Caroline Wendt registered seven rebounds and four points in 31 minutes while Ali Isbell recorded six points and five rebounds.
- Hendrix shot 12-for-50 (24 percent) from the floor, 19.2 percent (5-for-26) from deep and 18-for-29 (62.1 percent) from the free throw line.
