Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener Against Carthage

CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix men's lacrosse hosted Carthage Saturday on the confines of Young-Wise Memorial Stadium to open up its 2020 campaign. The Red Men scored the first 11 goals of the game before Hendrix struck for three in the third period. The Warriors ultimately fell 16-4 in its season opener. Four different Warriors recorded a goal Saturday. With the loss, Hendrix holds an 0-1 mark on the young season while Carthage improves to 1-0.

OF NOTE:
- The Big Red scored its first 11 goals all in the first half before Brandon Barnes scored his first goal of the year less than 90 seconds into the second half.
- Max Lynch struck for Hendrix's second consecutive goal just three minutes later as the Warriors trailed 11-2 with over 10 minutes left in the third period.
- After a Carthage score, Alec Davis scored the Warriors' third score of the day as Hendrix trailed 12-3 with 9:34 left in the third frame.
- Carthage carded a 4-0 run before Elias Ramos scored the final goal of the game with 1:15 left in regulation as Carthage pulled out the 16-4 win in Conway.

BOX SCORE NOTABLE:
- Ramos and Spencer Dorfneilsen recorded five shots and four shots on goal Saturday while Ramos accounted for nine of Hendrix's 38 ground balls.
- M. Lynch recorded a team-high eight shots and five shots on goal with four ground balls and one caused turnover.
- In addition to Ramos' goal, he also recorded an assist; Hendrix's lone assist in the season opener.
- M. Lynch, Davis, Barnes and Jackson Lynch each recorded three shots on goal while Patrick Dellinger accounted for five ground balls against Carthage.
- Patrick Adamo recorded 12 saves in over 56 minutes of work while Garrison Winter played nearly four minutes and recorded two saves Saturday.
- Ramos also won 17 of the 23 faceoffs Saturday against the Red Men.

Hendrix travels to Georgetown, Texas to take on Southwestern (Texas) Saturday at 12 p.m.
