CONWAY, Ark. - After opening up the program's inaugural season in Ala. last weekend, fans were able to see the Warriors in Conway for the first time Friday. Hendrix competed in the 2020 Beach Bear Classic by taking on Park and Austin Peay across town on the campus of Central Arkansas.
In the first match of the day, the Warriors made history after
Grace Turner and
Caroline Garlington won the first-ever set in program history after the duo took down Parks No. 2 pair, 21-12, 21-14.
MaKenzie Presley and
Maddie Tovar almost pulled off a victory; taking the first set 21-18 but dropped the next set and the decisive tiebreaker, 17-15. The Warriors fell to Park, 4-1, before taking on NCAA Division I Austin Peay State. APSU carded the 5-0 match win over Hendrix but the duo of
Charlotte Alexander and
Molly Kingston nearly pulled off a huge upset over a Division I program. Alexander and Kingston fell at the No. 3 spot, 21-18 and 21-12.
