CONWAY, Ark. - Hendrix has continued to focus on conditioning, fundamentals and scheme installation during its second week of preseason practice. Since Jan. 6, the Warriors have held a two-hour session each day at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.

Each day, Hendrix, wearing shoulder pads and helmets, has pushed through a series of conditioning periods, special teams and individual drills, position instruction and lengthy segments aimed at expanding the offensive and defensive playbooks.

The quick, upbeat pace of the Orange and Black's opening practice continued Thursday, with head coach Buck Buchanan pushing for across-the-board improvement. During 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 segments, Buchanan stressed a favorite theme - making sure both units are giving full effort by playing until the whistle is blown.

Offense Shines During 11-on-11 Segment
During Thursday's practice, Hendrix ran three drives of 11-on-11 with eight plays per drive. The session lasted approximately 15 minutes.

After Jacob Bremmon returned a 17-yard interception for a touchdown on the first play of the first drive, the Warriors offense began to click.

On the first play of the second drive, Jacob Beatey took a handoff up the middle and broke loose for a 90-yard touchdown run.

After the ball was re-spotted, the second series continued and was highlighted by an Anthony Johnson 15-yard run and Jacob Wood 20-yard pass completion to Jacob Sylvia.

A Deondre Henry 20-yard scamper to open the third drive and 15-yard completion to Braden Shaffer sandwiched a 15-yard carry by Johnson.

However, the defense got the last laugh, recording the final highlight of the day when Matt Williams picked off a pass during 7-on-7.

Saturday's Intrasquad Scrimmage Canceled
An intrasquad, game-like scrimmage had been scheduled for Saturday morning at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium, but it has been canceled due to the threat of inclement weather.

Hendrix is set to hold a two-hour practice Friday as Buchanan's bunch approaches the end of the second week of preseason camp.

Solo Act
Hendrix, which returns 18 projected starters from last season's 7-3 squad, is the only college football team at any level in Arkansas playing a regular season this semester after it was postponed from the fall due to COVID-19. The Warriors, who are set to play a modified five-game Southern Athletic Association schedule, kick off their season Feb. 6 at Millsaps (Miss.).
