ABOUT HENDRIX

The Warriors are coming off a 43-6 loss to then-RV/RV Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) on Oct. 9 at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium. The Warriors faced their second-straight league opponent which was receiving votes in the AFCA and D3football.com Top 25 polls. Hendrix trailed 24-0 at halftime but hit paydirt on its third play from scrimmage in the third quarter, as Hunter Holden connected with Chris Childress on a post route for a 61-yard touchdown pass. Holden finished with 112 yards through the air and a touchdown. Ryan Hollingsworth completed both of his pass attempts for 40 yards. Childress went over the century mark in receiving yards for the third time this year, ending with 106 yards on three catches and a touchdown. Tajae White compiled 105 all-purpose yards - 59 on kickoff returns and 46 receiving. Eli Martin and Mitchell Johnson each totaled 10 tackles. Martin and Cole Tierce each forced a fumble. Brody Plemons and Timothy Curran each had a sack. Plemons, Curran and Dylan Chappell recorded one tackle for loss apiece. Matthew Scirto and Alek Taylor each broke up a pass. Hunter Lawrence had a quarterback hurry.

Buchanan is five wins shy of 50 for his career.

Childress has nine receiving touchdowns this season, which moved him into third place on the school's single-season list. He moved into ninth place on the program's on the touchdowns scored list.

Childress has 10-career receiving touchdowns, which is tied for sixth in program history. His 10 touchdowns scored ranks 10th.

Jacob Bremmon has eight-career picks, which is tied for second in program history and two shy of breaking the school record.

Scirto has 22 pass breakups in his career, which ranks second in Hendrix history. He is three shy of breaking the school's all-time mark.

The Warriors rank third in the SAA in fewest penalties per game (6.2) and yards per completion (13.2), third in the league and 45th nationally in kickoff return average (22.96) and fourth in the SAA in first downs (91) and passing offense (213.8).

White ranks second in the SAA and fourth nationally in kickoff return yards (480), third in the conference and 46th in Division III in kickoff return average (25.1) and fifth in the league in all-purpose yards per game (114.8).

Childress leads the SAA and ranks third nationally in receiving touchdowns (9) and ranks second in the league and 54th nationally in receiving yards (445) and third in the SAA in receptions per game (4.8).

Johnson is second in the SAA in per game averages for solo tackles (4.6) and total tackles (8.4). He ranks 87th nationally in total tackles.

Buchanan's 93-member squad is represented by five states - Texas (45), Arkansas (39), Louisiana (4), Tennessee (3) and Oklahoma (2).

ABOUT RHODES

The Lynx are coming off a 55-13 win at Sewanee (Tenn.) in league action on Oct. 9. Leading 21-13 at halftime, Rhodes blew the game open with 34 second-half points, including 27 in the fourth quarter. Luke Macias completed 16-of-30 passes for 208 yards with four touchdowns and one interception and was sacked twice. James Moskosky gained 90 yards on 17 carries, as the Lynx totaled 215 yards on the ground. Umikoa Kealoha caught five balls for 80 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Cooper caught two touchdowns. Rhodes put up 423 yards of total offense, converted 47.1 percent (8-of-17) on third down, was 6-of-6 in the redzone and held the ball for 33:16. Jordan McCoy had five tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, a forced fumble, fumble recovery and a blocked kick. The Lynx forced two fumbles and picked off three passes. Wiley Henshaw scored 13 points on seven extra-point attempts and two field goals, which tied for any SAA kicker in most points kicking in a game this season. He also averaged 44.4 yards on five punts.

On Monday, McCoy was named SAA Defensive Player of the Week and Henshaw Special Teams Player of the Week.

Rhodes leads the SAA and ranks fifth in Division III in forced turnovers (17) and leads the SAA and ranks 24th in Division III in interceptions (8), ranks second in the league and sixth nationally in punt return average (21.91), second in the conference and 37th nationally in third down percentage defense (0.309), second in the league and 95th nationally in fewest sacks allowed (1.6) and third in the league in passing offense (222.8).

JaVon Cooper leads the SAA and ranks second nationally in kickoff return yards (498).

Henshaw leads the league and ranks seventh nationally in net punting (41.6).

McCoy leads the SAA and ranks 29th in Division III in tackles for loss (1.7).

Cooper leads the league and is 93rd nationally in receptions per game (5.2).

Macias is second in the league and 52nd in the country in completions per game (18.8). 

LAST MEETING

Hendrix defeated Rhodes, 33-0, in SAA action at Young-Wise Memorial Stadium on Oct. 5, 2019.

Hendrix scored on its opening drive, as Miles Thompson found Chad McGonigal from four yards out for McGonigal's first receiving touchdown of his career. Sandy Burks nailed a career-best 48-yard field goal with 32 seconds left in the opening period as the Warriors led 10-0 after one quarter. Thompson scored a rushing touchdown from 20 yards out with 11:59 left in the first half. Thompson found Kip VanHoose from 20 yards out with 3:04 to go, as Hendrix led 24-0 at the break. 

Austin O'Brien recorded his third career touchdown with 1:47 left in the third period before Burks nailed a 27-yard field goal with 10:55 left in the game.

Thompson finished 27-for-34 passing for 246 yards and three total touchdowns while also rushing for 37 yards.

VanHoose registered 71 yards on 17 carries, while O'Brien finished with 30 yards on eight carries. 

Tanner Hartsfield recorded a team-high seven tackles in the win. Anthony JohnsonBrooks Parham and Jared Bazley each accounted for six tackles. Scirto, Carter WeakleyCanon Roeder and Adonnis Butler added five tackles each, while Butler was responsible for two quarterback hurries. Jon-Patric Veal and Mason Adams also registered one quarterback hurry each.

EXTRA POINTS

The Orange and Black have scored at least 30 points in their last five games against Rhodes and six of the previous seven. In the most recent three, all Hendrix wins, the Warriors allowed 20.7 points per game, including an average of just 10 in the last two.

The 2019 win was the Warriors' last shutout and first since Nov. 12, 2015. Hendrix blanked Rhodes for the first time since Nov. 20, 1926.

Hendrix's 70 points against Rhodes in 2017 were the most in program history.

Saturday is a homecoming for two Memphis natives on the Hendrix roster - Jaden Davis and Jones Casper. Weakley is from Millington, Tenn., which is approximately 18 miles northeast of Rhodes.
